King Abdulaziz University (KAU), represented by the Faculty of Medicine, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group to train and empower students from KAU’s health faculties across all academic levels, while enriching joint research and consultancy efforts. The agreement also contributes to community service and supports the development of Saudi youth in the healthcare sector.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Basheikh, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chair of the Coordinating Committee for Health Faculties at KAU, and Prof. Awad bin Abdullah Al-Omari, Chief Medical Officer at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group.
The signing ceremony took place during KAU’s participation in the 8th Global Health Exhibition 2025, held in Riyadh.
The agreement aims to offer clinical training opportunities to students from KAU’s health faculties across undergraduate, internship, postgraduate, and fellowship programs, covering both medical and allied health specialties. It also provides a framework for joint research, expert consultations, and community engagement through volunteer programs and public health initiatives that support the empowerment of Saudi youth in the healthcare field.
Key Areas of Cooperation
• Clinical training for KAU students in Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib hospitals, with internship durations ranging from 1 to 12 months, and weekly training hours set between 40 and 48 per trainee.
• Employment pathways enabling successful trainees to apply for positions within the Medical Group following their training.
• Opportunities for faculty and students to participate in clinical research and lead awareness campaigns across the Group’s healthcare facilities.
• Design and supervision of structured training programs by KAU for all academic stages, with the university responsible for setting objectives and nominating eligible students.
• Joint program development, leveraging KAU’s academic expertise to support the Group in designing clinical training programs, and assigning faculty and clinical supervisors for coordination and oversight.
• On-campus awareness initiatives and collaboration in medical publishing, with KAU faculty supporting the Group’s staff in research dissemination.
This agreement reflects the shared commitment of both parties to foster long-term collaboration, combining the medical excellence of Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group with the academic leadership of King Abdulaziz University, to deliver high-quality training programs and prepare the next generation of Saudi healthcare professionals.
